'Masala Chai' tea blend is the most popular among all teas. On every street corner, Chai Wallahs sell their personal blends, all over the cities of India. This tea is best enjoyed with the milk.
During cold weather and winds, in Europe, mostly coffee, hot milk chocolate and some tea are a good cup for comfort. But in India it is 'Masala chai' which is not just any milk tea.
Assam Black tea (granulated) : 2 Tbs
Water : 2 cups
Milk : ¾ cup
Cardamon pods : 2 Green
Cinnamon stick : 1
White pepper : a pinch
Ground ginger : a pinch
Cloves (optional) : 1-2
Sugar as per taste
Fill the pot with the water, keep on slow flame and add the Black tea. Add the smashed cardamon into the water. Also, add the remaining spices and increase the flame. Bring it to a boil and set the flame back down. Let it simmer for 10 mins. Finally add in the milk and sugar and mix well. Strain the tea and fill it into the cups.
Masala chai contitutes a whole array of spices like, clove, cinnamon, elaichi, ginger and tulsi. Every spice have its own individual health benefits. In Masala chai, all spices benefits works in synergy to relieve inflammation. Most important ingredient 'Ginger' have the ability to stop the synthesis of prostaglandins (a major player in the initiation of the inflammation process) to control inflammation.
Another important ingredient is 'Clove'. It has anti-inflammatory compound 'eugenol' that helps to reduce inflammation in the muscles. Together both these spices are very potent painkillers.
